Ballina’s favourite author Kate Kerrigan will be having a book launch with a difference in Ballina when her latest novel is released next week.
Land of Dreams is the third  and final part of her Ellie Hogan/Ellis Island trilogy  which was a bestseller in Ireland and America.
“I wanted to do something really special for my local readers,” the author said from her mother’s home in Ballina. “The story is set in the golden age of Hollywood and so I wanted to celebrate it in a really glamorous way.”
Kate will be hosting the launch in Purity Hair & Beauty salon on Friday. With demonstrations by vintage inspired make-up collection Art Deco and portraits by photographer Corinne Beattie, Kate and the Purity  team plan for the evening to be a celebration of old Hollywood glamour and style.
Sean Walsh the director of Ballina Arts Centre, which is co-hosting the event says: “Kate is always a popular performer and always coming up with new ideas for readings – this is something completely different to anything we have done before but I am sure it will be a great success.”
Kate adds: “It’s tough times for artists and writers but it’s also a time when we should be pulling together with small businesses and community. We may be down folks, but glamour is alive and well in Ballina! I am hoping that people will get dressed up and enter into the spirit of the event. ”
So come along and celebrate the launch. After a reading and book signing from the author there will be hair demonstrations from the Purity stylists and make up demonstrations from top make-up brand Art Deco with Corrine Beattie there to capture the glamour on film.
Tickets are free in advance from Purity Hair & Beauty, Corinne Beattie, Functional Fitness and Ballina Arts Centre, so come along and celebrate the launch. After a reading and book signing from the author, there will be hair demonstrations from the Purity stylists and make-up demonstrations from top make-up brand Art Deco, with Corrine Beattie there to capture the glamour on film.
