After more than a century of waiting The Neale finally got their hands on a county title last Saturday evening when they came from behind in dramatic circumstances to capture the junior title. Ardnaree led the southern stars by three points deep in injury time when Sean Cosgrove drove a 20-metre free all the way to the net to bring the game to extra-time. The Neale were on the front foot at that stage and pulled away to win by five points amid scenes of elation and devastation.

Ardnaree were distraught afterwards and one’s heart goes out to the proud men from the Moy. It was indeed a day of mixed emotions in McHale Park.

Full and extended coverage of the memorable match in tomorrow’s Western People.
